Faculty of Engineering and Technology : Induction Programme
The Faculty of Engineering and Technology, SRM University Kattankulathur Campus, was flooded with thousands of students and parents who had assembled for the inaugural of the formal orientation programme on August 3, 2011.The function was presided by the top management dignitaries. The lighting of the lamp marked the joie de vivre of the august gathering assembled in the auditorium. The Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. P. Thangaraj, known in the academic community for his efficiency and resourcefulness welcomed the gathering.
The Pro-Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development, Dr. T.P. Ganesan, a brilliant academician and erudite scholar, gave an introduction to the SRM University much to the delight of the audience. He briefed the benefits of being part of SRM and wished the students a glorious future.
The Chancellor, Dr. T.R. Pachamuthu, in his address said that he is extremely proud of the fact that SRM is on par with the top foreign Universities. A stroll around the campus will prove that "We Walk the Talk", the Chancellor maintained. He added that the infrastructure provided at SRM is a boon to the students to nurture their dreams. The choice words and measured phrases coupled with his simplicity inspired the students and parents.
The President of SRM University, Prof. P. Sathyanarayan, stressed that SRM has a global reputation and is constantly motivating students to think "out of the box" and assist them in creative projects. By way of an example he referred the SRMSAT project saying "one of the student scientist who was involved in the project is now a successful researcher in MIT". SRM AIP's Twinning and Dual degree programmes are the new age torch bearer of innovative educational concepts, which widen the scope of educational opportunity and access for students.
The Vice-Chancellor, Dr. M. Ponnavaiko, a person who has distinguished nationally and internationally in academics and administration delivered the Special Address. He highlighted the facilities available at SRM holding out the promise that no student will be disappointed. "The expectations of students are attended to and that they are in good hands" he said to the spellbound audience that highly appreciated his words of inspiration.
The Registrar, Dr. N. Sethuraman, an accomplished scholar and administrator introduced the various Directors, Deans and the Heads of Schools and Departments of the SRM Group of Institutions.
The function had parents express their perceptions as well. Nizarlebba, father of (F/O) Baseema Nisha, a first year Architecture student, said that he was extremely overwhelmed by the hospitality at SRM. During his short stay on campus, he had always come across only smiles.
Mr. Sandeep Shah, (F/O) Vishal Shah, a first year Chemical Engineering student, said that he along with his wife toured almost all part of India to find a suitable University for their son and that no other place impressed them as SRM did. Mr. A.P. Rajasekaran (F/O) P.R. Hariharan, quipped that he was sure that SRM will make a man of his ward and send him home as a responsible and intelligent human being.
The Director E & T, Dr. C. Muthamizhchelvan, the functional face of the Faculty and a respected authority in the University thanked the audience by way of a Vote of Thanks.
The grand function came to a close with the National anthem.
